Mako update - Dive set up.

Posted on March 15, 2013 at 6:55 AM Comments comments (0)

Its been a busy couple of months onboard Mako over the winter.

We have been modifiying the boat to cater for the diving side of the business and Mako is now fitted with bottle racks and a custom built diver recovery lift to make getting out of the water a breeze, even with heavy diving equipment.

Diving trips to the last 2 wrecks sunk in the second world war (Avondale park and Snelland I) are now in the calendar as well as a special week 1st to 5th July concentrating on diving the various British and German submarines we have located in and around the forth area. This should prove to be quite a special trip.

Mid term coding survey

Glad to report that Mako had her mid term survey this morning and passed inspection for catagory 2 operations up to 60nm day or night.

New safety equipment purchased for the coding includes:-

14 x 150N auto inflate lifejackets c/w lights

Offshore flare pack with 6 hand held flares, 4 parachute rockets and 2 smoke canisters

14 x Thermal protective aids.

Additional ground gear in form of CQB anchor.

New first aid kit

Emergency action prompt cards for fire, gas leak, VHF distress etc

Waterproof signalling torch.

The 2 liferafts (8 person & 6 person) have a maintenance contract for change-out each year.

We have gone to great lengths to meet or exceed the coding requirements for safety equipment aboard Mako. Safety of our customers is paramount and will always come first.

Mako has arrived!

'Mako' arived at Anstruther on Friday evening after lifting into the water at Grangemouth. Some stunning photos going under the Forth Bridges and she is ready for fishing charter work.

Carried out some diving trials yesterday on U714 without a ladder installed as the freeboard at the stern through the access gate is low enough to climb in without the need! Dont worry though - we still plan to install a diver lift in the near future!

Mako Purchase

Posted on October 28, 2012 at 10:45 AM Comments comments (0)

The purchase of 'Mako' has been completed and expect delivery on friday 2nd November. She is being transported from her current home in Dartmouth to the Firth of Forth by John Shepard boat transport but as she is so wide we are having to lift her into the water at Grangemouth. We plan to motor her down to her new home in Anstruther on Friday evening tide arriving around 18:00. Hope to see some of our friends there to welcome her home!
